Taylor Swift Look Alike

Taylor Swift Look Alike

There was a new hire training for my new job yesterday. I met some really nice people and got a plethora of information. During one of the presentations, the woman speaking looked at me and said “who does she remind me of?” The other ladies that knew her shrugged their shoulders and didn’t have an answer. Then someone said “Taylor Swift maybe?”

Now, I am thinking that lady was talking about the old Taylor Swift because my hair is pretty curly. Curly hair is really the only thing about me that resembles Taylor Swift, but hey, I will take a compliment where I can get one.

Everyone laughed and moved on, but I won’t lie, I was riding on that comment for the rest of the day. Were people doing double takes when I walked past them? Did someone just try to snap a picture of me? Okay, okay I am joking. I do not think I look like Taylor. I am still racking my brain as to what other characteristics I posses that could resemble this music icon.

Then I got to thinking about if I really wanted to resemble her. Or any celebrity for that matter. Do I want people to look at me and see someone else? Well, yes I think I do. That person I want others to see is Jesus.

No, I don’t want to physically look like Jesus. I would be pretty insecure if everyone thought I looked like a man. But the things I say and do and even think are what I want to resemble Christ. The way I live my life should paint a beautiful picture of Jesus to those around me.

At the beginning of Ephesians 5, Paul gives us a little glimpse of how to resemble Christ:

“Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering.” Ephesians 5:1-2 (CSB)

We need to imitate God. Walk in love. Jesus came to earth to save our us from sin, and he lived a life that we can look at now and try to imitate. He did not have to come meet us here. He is the all powerful God who could have saved us any way. There are a number of reasons that Jesus was born here and lived and died how He did, but I think one of them was to show believers then and now how we should live.

We have four accounts of Jesus walking in love at our fingertips. The Gospels are available for us to learn how Jesus lived and imitate his ways.

Walking in love shouldn’t be something saved for the closest people in our lives. It has to be for all the people we encounter. Everyone we meet and interact with should see Jesus in our lives. That is the ultimate goal right? Well, one them at least. To lead people to Christ by how we live. And how we love.

As I begin my new job, I pray that I remember to imitate Christ. Sure, it’s nice to be compared to one of the most popular people in media right now, but at the end of the day, I want others to see Jesus in my life. I want to be that fragrant offering of love and faithfulness. To walk in love so all those around me see the one who loves me and them.
